Court Services Including PN7
Practice Note 7 (PN7) refers to a specific guideline in Alberta's Court of King's Bench for family law matters, appointing a neutral "Parenting Expert" (like a psychologist) to intervene in high-conflict separations to help resolve disputes and determine the child's best interests through therapy, mediation, or observation, reporting findings back to the court, distinct from a full custody assessment (PN8). It's used when parents can't agree, providing the court with expert insight into family dynamics and child needs, with services that may involve assessment, counseling, or structured family meetings. Learn more about the PN7 Guidelines here on the Alberta Courts website.
